Wedding Welcome Sign

OUR STORY

Hello I'm Alisaun Crenshaw, Owner of Sunni Ann Rustic Shop, a small business on Main Street Walhalla, SC. As a hobby I began hand-crafting rustic signs with scriptures, funny slogans, and southern influenced sayings for friends and family. I loved the beauty of the scriptures on rustic wood, and personalizing signs. As demand grew- I officially started the business in 2018 and began to sell the signs, handcrafted lazy susans, and other rustic items on facebook and in a local store. This was a change from my 12 year career in corporate property management- but a welcome breath of fresh air.

After some success in selling at shows in the Upstate such as the Holly Jolly in Anderson, Vintage Market Days, and local store M. Tannery and Sons in Seneca, my husband Mike encouraged me to open a retail store of my own. I wanted to do it but was hesitant because I knew that a store would be a large commitment, and most importantly we were also in the middle of a Pandemic! I also felt like I had to have the right location for success, and a beautiful store itself. Creating the right atmosphere is very important! After some prayer, soul searching and "casual" looking we realized that renting was out of the question and started looking for investment opportunities. We came across a historic building on Mainstreet in Walhalla. At first we didn't think much of it, it was run down and had suffered years of neglect, and was nowhere near being the beautiful atmosphere I wanted to create. But we had a vision, and saw a diamond in the rough with the fantastic location- Walhalla's walkable Main Street, the very busy Hwy 28 on the way to the Mountains, Highlands, and Cashiers, and the very valuable Main Street Program. Not to mention the wonderful people of Walhalla! We were sold, and in love. We quickly found out though that the road to renovate this building of ours would not be easy. Several construction companies would not take on the project and the one very large construction company that would, wanted to charge us upward of a million dollars! They also advised against the investment. We decided to take it on though, despite their advice and hired subcontractors, managing the project ourselves and 300 Main was born. Neither of us really had the time, with Mike running his company King Asphalt in Liberty and my family obligations and business, but through the worst of it, we never gave up. We also didn't spend anywhere near what that large company tried to charge us- although I'm sure it would have been much easier to go that route. I'm glad all of those contractors fell through though because 300 Main turned out more beautiful and perfect than we thought! We will also opening our 2 luxury airbnbs upstairs late summer/early fall. I am incredibly proud of our journey and where we are now. Sunni Ann Rustic shop turned out beautiful and the atmosphere is just what I hoped to create. We are excited to have our store on Main Street Walhalla, and look forward to serving the town for years to come!

About our setup- we are what you would call a mod general store with a little bit of everything, including farm to table foods. We have large brands like Simply Southern, Swig, Rumpl, Local Boy, Able and more. I am also extremely proud to sell local artisans' handcrafted items! If you can't find it- we need to have it, so definitely tell us or drop us an email with suggestions!

One last thing- we are also passionate about programs that empower and assist others - we give 10% of our profits to support ministries and programs that help. If you know of any good local programs we need to support, please let us know.

We are thankful to be a part of our community and in Walhalla, SC. Thanks for coming in to see us and shop. We are excited to see where this journey takes us.
